If you want to attach a dual-band V/U whip right onto the back of a radio, this gizmo will get your SWR down really low.

 

Just take a lightweight battery-cable clamp and solder some #18 solid wire to the clamp, extending out in opposing directions.  Clamp it on and cut both wires so that they're exactly 19.25" from the base of the antenna collar to the end of the wire. You're ready.  Low SWR on 2m and above, and pretty-much an omni-directional radiation pattern !! 

 

(Just keep that whip away from your body when transmitting).
